Jarvis Landry Draws Rave Reviews at First Saints Practice

Jarvis Landry needed a fresh start after the Cleveland Browns bought him out at the start of the NFL offseason. The New Orleans Saints needed wide receiver help after fielding a putrid passing game in 2021. That's why it was a no-brainer for Landry to join the team on a one-year contract last month.
The 29-year-old made his Saints practice debut on Thursday and it didn't take long for him to receive rave reviews from the media. ESPN's Mike Triplett even went as far as saying that Landry looked like a "go-to target" and stood out thanks to his "veteran presence and competitiveness."

NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill echoed the sentiment that Landry did a great job at standing out, highlighting the veteran's "great physicality and attitude."

His impressive physical ability actually led to a one-handed catch in a seven-on-seven drill, per The Athletic's Katherin Terrell.
Jarvis Landry had a nice one handed catch today in 7-on-7. He smiled and said his arm was getting pulled so he had no choice. There was some definite back and forth after that play toward the person attempting to defend him. Coaches yelling “hands off”

It might only be one practice performance, but you can't blame Saints fans for feeling optimistic. New Orleans averaged an NFL-worst 187.4 passing yards per game in 2021 and didn't have a single wide receiver hit the 700-yard mark.
Things look much different in 2022. In addition to Landry, quarterback Jameis Winston is expected to have a healthy Michael Thomas and rookie Chris Olave at his disposal. Assuming the offensive line stays strong following left tackle Terron Armstead's departure, the Saints could have one of the most dangerous passing attacks next season.
Even though the Saints are in much better shape compared to last season, the jury is still out as to whether they can win a championship. FanDuel Sportsbook has them in the middle of the pack, giving New Orleans +4000 odds (T-No. 17) to win Super Bowl LVII.
