James Robinson Fantasy Outlook Further Improves With Devine Ozigbo on IR Ahead of Week 1

After releasing Leonard Fournette, the Jacksonville Jaguars had an obvious hole at running back. In a surprise move, undrafted rookie James Robinson was announced as the top back on the team's depth chart.
That gave him an interesting fantasy football outlook, and his value is already on the rise with Ryquell Armstead getting a reserve/COVID designation and Devine Ozigbo placed on the injured reserve.

Robinson may not have any NFL experience under his belt, but he was an absolute workhorse at Illinois State. He ran for 1,290 yards and 12 touchdowns on 205 carries as a junior in 2018, then 1,899 yards and 18 touchdowns on a whopping 364 carries as a senior in 2019.
And now he's likely to handle a huge chunk of the rushing volume available in Jacksonville. His competition, Dare Ogunbowale and Chris Thompson, have a combined 261 carries in their respective NFL careers — fewer than Robinson saw in 2019 alone.
Thompson is going to dominate the receiving work in the backfield, which certainly hurts Robinson's value in an offense that is likely going to be playing from behind a lot, but Robinson should dominate the early-down and goal line work.

Go out and grab Robinson now if he's still available on your waiver wire, because not many waiver RBs are going to offer the 15-plus carry potential that Robinson does.
