When the Philadelphia Eagles selected DeVonta Smith with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Eagles fans were elated for a number of reasons. First, they potentially got incredible value on the reigning Heisman Trophy winner falling to the No. 10 slot. Second, they addressed their team's pressing need at wide receiver and lastly, they paired him with his former college teammate in Jalen Hurts.

Fast forward to this week and the start of OTAs and we have our first visuals of the Hurts-Smith connection in the NFL.

While Jalen Hurts had some impressive moments last season, his rookie campaign certainly came with its fair share of struggles. The team went just 1-4 in his starts, he managed only a 52.0 completion percentage and his passer rating was 77.6.

Some of that can be blamed on play calling or injuries or the talent around him, though, Eagles fans have reason to be optimistic about Hurts' 2021 outlook. Smith's arrival is a huge part of that.

It takes more than one connection on offense for a team to be successful, but it all starts and ends with the play of your quarterback and Philly seems well on its way to giving Hurts everything he needs to see a stark improvement this season.
