The Jacksonville Jaguars finished as the lowest-scoring team in the NFL this past season and obviously need help on that side of the ball. Fans will be happy to hear that the team is making an effort by interviewing Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich for their open head coach position for the second time.

Jaguars Head Coach

Leftwich is only the second candidate behind Indianapolis Colts' defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus to land a second interview with the Jaguars. He is becoming a popular name in the head coaching market after leading the Buccaneers to a top-4 scoring finish in each of the last three seasons.

Of course, it has to be pointed out that Leftwich was Jacksonville's first-round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft and ended up starting 44 games at quarterback for the franchise. Now the 42-year-old may have an opportunity to help mold a fellow first-round signal-caller in Trevor Lawrence.

Leftwich ended his playing career and landed a role with the Arizona Cardinal coaching staff in 2017. His quick rise up the ladder only goes to show the offensive knowledge he possesses. Leftwich has also interviewed with the Chicago Bears and likely has more scheduled in the coming days.

When it comes down to it, Jacksonville cannot afford to screw this hiring up. The Jaguars have made the NFL Playoffs just once in the last 14 seasons and have a legitimate building block in Lawrence. Whether or not Leftwich is the one tasked with turning things around is yet to be seen.
