Marcus Smart is the engine that makes the Boston Celtics go. He's the best defender on the league's best defense, and he's the team's primary ball-handler and playmaker on offense. Though he seemingly managed to make it through Sunday's Game 7 unscathed, Smart was seen in a walking boot after the Celtics' thrilling victory.

And with a quick turnaround, Smart appears to be very much in danger of missing Game 1 against the Miami Heat.

Game 1 is scheduled to tip-off Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. ET. That gives Smart about 48 hours to get healthy, and it may not be enough time.

Smart is listed as questionable for Game 1, and he truly appears to be questionable to suit up. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him sit out, but Celtics fans have seen Smart play through worse. Boston's floor general has been tremendous, seemingly playing through various bumps and bruises all postseason. He's averaging 15.0 PPG, 6.2 APG and 3.7 RPG on 41.6% shooting in the playoffs.

Smart has missed one game this postseason, Game 2 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Boston didn't seem to feel his absence much, as Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum led the team to a 109-86 victory.

Eastern Conference Finals

With or without Smart, Boston could get off to a slow start in Game 1. FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Celtics as 1.5-point underdogs against the Miami Heat.
