The Minnesota Vikings are one of the best surprises of the 2022 NFL season. Minnesota leads the NFC North at 5-1 and looks to secure their first playoff berth since 2019. Entering the year as a potential transition team, Kevin O'Connell and his Vikings are now set up to be buyers at the trade deadline.

NFL insider Bill Barnwell identified Minnesota's biggest needs ahead of Tuesday's deadline, and the perfect player to fill that void.

While the Vikings rallied to a strong start on the backs of their elite offense, the defense has painted a different picture. Minnesota allows the 10th-most passing yards in football for a unit that ranks just 21st in Football Outsiders' DVOA metric.

The offseason decisions to bring back Patrick Peterson and add Chandon Sullivan haven't panned out, on top of lengthy injuries to draft picks Lewis Cine and Andrew Booth Jr. Considering the amount of future talent on the roster (albeit injured), Barnwell thinks the Vikings will do a little "low-cost" shopping.

He names Sidney Jones IV of the Seattle Seahawks a perfect fit. Jones lost his starting role to Tariq Woolen and Mike Jackson this season, but was impressive last season. He earned a solid 70.2 PFF rating in 2021 thanks to career-high marks in passes defended (10) and combine tackles (66).

This is a situation where Minnesota can improve without jeopardizing the future of the franchise. A win-win.
