Insider Reveals Baker Mayfield's Most Likely Trade Destination Ahead of NFL Draft

All signs point to quarterback Baker Mayfield being moved by the Cleveland Browns after the team traded for Deshaun Watson this offseason. No one truly knows where the 2017 No. 1 overall pick will end up, but NFL Insider Ian Rapoport suggests that the Carolina Panthers are the most likely spot.

Baker Mayfield Trade Rumors

Rapoport made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show Friday afternoon to address the comments made by Mayfield on various podcasts. The four-year pro recently mentioned he thought he could end up with the Seattle Seahawks, but Rapoport quickly shut that down for a number of reasons.

Not only have the Seahawks shown little interest in Baker, but they also look poised to grab a QB in the upcoming draft. Meanwhile, Carolina has much more pressing draft needs and could turn to the trade market to find a QB. Starter Sam Darnold certainly hasn't proven to be a leader on offense.

Mayfield owns a record of 17-13 over the last two seasons and has thrown for a combined 6,573 yards during that span. He has tossed 92 touchdowns compared to 56 interceptions during his career and averages a reliable 11.9 yards per completion. That's an upgrade for the Panthers.

Rapoport also brought up the idea of Mayfield taking on a high-end backup role for a team like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Being the heir to All-Pro Tom Brady doesn't seem so bad. No matter what, it seems like only a matter of time before Mayfield is donning a different uniform on the sidelines.

Rumors are sure to ramp up as the offseason rolls on, so keep an eye on the 27-year-old signal-caller.
