The Cleveland Indians have been one of those MLB teams caught with a serious injury bug in 2021. Franmil Reyes and Roberto Perez did both come off of the injured list this past weekend, but it looks like Eddie Rosario is headed to replace them.

During Monday night's loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, Rosario left in just the 2nd inning. The seven-year MLB veteran sent a ground ball to second base and ran very gingerly down to first. He was immediately pulled from the game and manager Terry Francona provided a grim update following the game.

Eddie Rosario Injury Update

According to Francona, he's almost certain the Indians will have to place their left fielder on the injured list. When a manager confirms potential IL time before the training staff has provided a full update, it's usually a bad sign.

The injury looks like an abdominal issue that Rosario originally tweaked earlier last week. He did tough it out for a few days, but he may need a stint on the shelf to fully heal.

On the year, Rosario has been a mainstay from the health standpoint. He's played in 77 of 82 possible contests while slugging .254/.296/.389 with 7 home runs and 46 RBIs.

Cleveland owns the second-best odds (+500) to win the AL Central division, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. They'll need to get Rosario back and healthy as quickly as possible to make a serious run at the division crown.
