If your season is starting to slip away, it might be time to blow it up and make a few big deals. Fantasy managers looking to trade will have to act fast, though, as most trade deadlines are just around the corner.
Fantasy Football Buy Low, Sell High
If you're looking to load up for a postseason run, here are some of the best buy-low, sell-high candidates to target heading into Week 12.
3. Buy: Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, New England Patriots
With both running backs healthy in Week 11, the New England Patriots opted to give Rhamondre Stevenson more touches (13) than Damien Harris (11). That's not a significant difference, obviously, but it does suggest that the two are in a 50-50 timeshare. And it doesn't hurt that Stevenson was more productive, putting up 75 yards from scrimmage (not including a massive run that was called back) compared to 65 for Harris. Right now, Stevenson has solid FLEX value. But if Harris goes down, or his fumbling issues pop up again, Stevenson would quickly become an elite back. Think of Stevenson like a lottery ticket. He's an excellent player to target if you've already secured your playoff spot and don't need immediate production.
2. Sell: Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton was tremendous in his return to the Carolina Panthers in Week 11. He finished as fantasy's QB4, putting up a whopping 26.16 points. Of course, that game came against the Washington Football Team, who surrender a league-worst 23.76 points per game to opposing QBs. For reference, no other team surrenders even 20.4 per game. He'll likely continue rolling against the Miami Dolphins (Week 12) and Atlanta Falcons (Week 14), but things get pretty brutal after that. Newton's final four opponents (Bills, Saints, Buccaneers) all rank in the top-nine in defensive DVOA, including the top-ranked Buffalo. He's probably going to be too risky to start in the fantasy playoffs, so trade him now while his value is at an all-time high rather than waste a bench spot on the dual-threat QB.
1. Buy: David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears
David Montgomery headlined this list back in Week 10. If you didn't get him then, now is the time. He played 95% of the snaps against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11 after playing 85% in his previous appearance. Both were season highs at the time. Now, the workhorse should benefit from a cakewalk of a schedule. Five of his final seven opponents rank bottom nine in rush defense DVOA. And four of those five rank in the bottom five. Combine his schedule with his status as the Bears' workhorse and he's got true league-winning upside. Don't forget, we saw this play out last year, as Montgomery finished as fantasy's RB1 in PPR leagues from Week 12 on.
