Guardians Get Positive Franmil Reyes Injury Update

The Cleveland Guardians placed designated hitter Franmil Reyes on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a hamstring injury that's been nagging him in recent weeks. While hamstring issues can be concerning, that doesn't seem to be the case with Reyes' situation.
Friday's MRI results showed that the 26-year-old is only dealing with a mild hamstring strain. The Guardians are reportedly feeling optimistic about the situation and will re-evaluate Reyes when they return home from their road trip on Monday.
Franmil Reyes Injury Update
Reyes was one of the Guardians' best players last year, finishing with 30 home runs and a career-high 85 RBIs while slashing .254/.324/.522. Unfortunately, his injury woes have prevented him from being that player in 2022.
Reyes is slashing .195/.255/.278 in 133 at-bats over 35 games this season. He only has three HRs and 12 RBIs over that stretch, putting him on pace for 10 and 39, respectively, if he plays as many games as he did last year (115).
The veteran Dominican's play has also worsened in recent weeks to the point where he only has three hits in 24 ABs over the last two weeks. In other words, he seriously needs to use this time off to heal and get his head back to being where it was in 2021.
Guardians AL Central Odds
Cleveland currently trails the Minnesota Twins by 7.5 games for the AL Central lead. Closing the gap will be difficult, but a healthy and contributing Reyes could certainly help.
FanDuel Sportsbook has the Guardians at +900 to win the AL Central title, trailing only the Chicago White Sox (-120) and Twins (+140).
