5 Greatest Quarterbacks in AFC East History
By Zach Brunner

When looking at the eight NFL divisions, it's hard to find a group that has had as many great quarterbacks as the AFC East. Not only does this division have some of the most talented passers in league history, they are also some of the most notable players across the history of sports.
Let's take a look at the five greatest quarterbacks in AFC East history.
Note: This list looks at the teams currently in the AFC East, which excludes the Indianapolis Colts who left the division in the 2002 realignment.
5. Bob Griese, Miami Dolphins (1967-80)
The number five spot is a tough one, but the tie breaker is Bob Griese's two Super Bowl wins with the Miami Dolphins. Griese is second in Dolphins history for passing yards (25,092) and touchdowns (192), but his 5.6 percent touchdown rate tops all players on this list. The Dolphins quarterback was a six-time Pro Bowler, two-time first team All-Pro and he won the MVP in 1971.
4. Joe Namath, New York Jets (1965-76)
Joe Namath was one of the first superstars in the NFL, taking the media by storm. "Broadway Joe" won Super Bowl III, and was voted to a Pro Bowl and an All-Pro selection. He is the franchise passing leader, with 27,057 passing yards and 170 touchdowns.
3. Jim Kelly, Buffalo Bills (1986-96)
The Buffalo Bills have struggled to field winning quarterbacks in their franchise history. However, Jim Kelly's time with the Bills was one of the bright spots in Bills history. He led his team to a 101-59 record, and he leads the Bills in passing yards (35,467) and touchdowns (237). Kelly was a five-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro and he led the league in passing touchdowns once.
2. Dan Marino, Miami Dolphins (1983-99)
Arguably the greatest player to never win a Super Bowl, Dan Marino checks every other box. While he does not have a ring, he is a nine-time Pro Bowler, eight time All-Pro, an MVP, a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year recipient and he led the league in passing yards five different times. He is by far the Dolphins passing leader, totaling 61,361 yards and 420 touchdowns to 252 interceptions.
1. Tom Brady, New England Patriots (2000-19)
Regarded by many as the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady is certainly the greatest quarterback to play in the AFC East. He is the all-time division leader in passing yards (74,571) and passing touchdowns (541). His 5.4 percent touchdown rate is second on this list while his 1.8 percent interception rate is the lowest. Of course, Brady is also a six-time Super Bowl champion, 14-time Pro Bowler, three-time MVP and five-time All-Pro.
