The New York Giants suffered a massive loss early in the season when star running back Saquon Barkley was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Since then, the team has won just a single game, and consistently ranks near the bottom of power rankings. Giants fans are clearly not happy. However, their situation for the future became a bit clearer, following the recent Saquon injury update.
Saquon will finally undergo surgery for his torn ACL next week, which will be 39 days after the injury occurred. The reason for the wait was to allow the swelling in his knee to go down. Also adding to the long wait was that Barkley's surgeon is currently quarantined inside the World Series Bubble.
While the young running back is expected to make a full recovery and return to action, the timetable put in place for him is 9-12 months, possibly impacting the start for next season. While veteran Devonta Freeman is running in his place currently, this update could point to the Giants adding another capable runner for the start of next year.
