Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen have already done a great job identifying and utilizing the talent in place on the New York Giants. One of the league's best surprises, New York is 6-2 heading into Week 9 and appears to be a legitimate playoff contender for the first time in years.
Part of that roster construction process means locking up talent left over from the previous regime. On Thursday, Giants insider Pat Leonard reported the front office has started that process with safety Julian Love.
According to Leonard, Love and his reps have begun conversations with the front office regarding a contract extension. The 2019 fourth-round draft pick made the full switch to strong safety (after roaming the secondary in years prior) and the results have been promising.
A team captain, Love has started all eight games for the G-Men this season and played 100% of the snaps in all but one of those contests. He leads the team with 58 combined tackles and also has an interception.
After a strong start, Daboll's squad holds -200 odds to reach the postseason on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
