The Seattle Seahawks had one of their worst seasons in a while in 2021 and have since undergone plenty of changes in the offseason. Now that they've learned which teams they'll be facing in the 2022 NFL season, a new era in Seattle is set to begin.
Bouncing back will be a challenge for the Seahawks, who ESPN's Mike Clay says have the 10th-toughest 2022 schedule. The good news is that not all of Seattle's opponents are world-beaters.
Here's a look at the three easiest games on the Seahawks' 2022 schedule.
Seattle Seahawks Schedule 2022
1. Week 3: vs. Atlanta Falcons
The Seahawks are opening the 2022 season with a pair of tough matchups against the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers, but they will immediately get relief against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3. FanDuel Sportsbook is projecting the Falcons to win four or fewer games this year and it's unlikely that they'll challenge any competent organization. The Seahawks may have come up short in 2021, but they still had the 12th-best scoring defense in the league, which should fare well against Atlanta's uninspiring offense. Neither team is close to being the best in the NFL, but it's clear that the Falcons should be no challenge for the Seahawks.
2. Week 4: vs. Detroit Lions
After an easily winnable matchup against the Falcons, the Seahawks have another with the Detroit Lions in the following week. Yes, the Lions should be better than they were last year, but surpassing three wins is a low bar. There's a good chance that Detroit will still be figuring things out in Week 3, which is why the Seahawks must jump at the opportunity to secure the win. They also have the more experienced head coach in Pete Carroll, so it'll be up to him to flex his wisdom against 46-year-old Dan Campbell.
3. Week 17: vs. New York Jets
The New York Jets haven't been a respectable franchise in years and even though they had a promising 2022 NFL Draft, they still have much to prove. The Jets also haven't done well against the Seahawks lately, with the latter winning each of the last four matchups between the two teams. In fact, Seattle has held New York to an average of just 6.8 PPG over that span. Matchups against the Jets are about as easy as they come in recent years and it's hard to imagine the Seattles not taking advantage of this meeting.
