It's been over 200 days since Philadelphia Eagles players stepped on the field for a live down. Of course, that was when they fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs. Their fan base has to be excited about preseason action returning on Friday, Aug. 12.

The Eagles will welcome the New York Jets to Lincoln Financial Field at 7:30 p.m. ET. This will be a perfect opportunity for fans tuning in to get to know the rookies and newcomers on the roster. On Wednesday, head coach Nick Sirianni revealed his quarterback plans for Week 1 of the preseason.

Eagles vs Jets Preseason

In a surprising turn of events, Sirianni explained that his starters will play "one or two" series against the Jets. That includes starting quarterback Jalen Hurts. Reports out of training camp have indicated that the 24-year-old has been up-and-down so far, but his team leadership has been on full display.

Philadelphia secured a postseason berth in 2021 and Hurts' ability to control the game on offense was a big reason why. He finished the season with 3,144 yards through the air, 784 yards on the ground and 26 total touchdowns. Hurts completed a reliable 61.3% of his pass attempts on the year.

Hurts will be playing behind an offensive line that is already missing center Jason Kelce and could be without starting tackle Jordan Mailata as well. Kelce recently underwent surgery to repair his elbow and Mailata is dealing with a concussion. Cam Jurgens and Kayode Awosika should get the starts.

The Eagles head into Friday night as a 1-point home favorite against the Jets with odds set at -120 on the moneyline, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The total is set at 35.5 points.
