Jalen Hurts is set to take over as starter for the Philadelphia Eagles after a promising 2020 campaign. Even solid quarterback play under center for Philly would be welcomed after Carson Wentz's disastrous season last year.
Hurts has already shown he's ready to step up as a leader, and the latest reports regarding his offseason prep are glowing.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler says Hurts is giving off "some QB1 vibes" as he's taken charge in organizing workouts with his team. Hurts has reportedly dived head-first into new head coach Nick Sirianni's playbook and is passing that knowledge off to this teammates.
"He organized off-site workouts with Dallas Goedert, Miles Sanders and some other teammates. He really dug into Nick Sirianni's new offensive play-book. He got nuances down, did the leg-work, and tried to get everyone on the same page."- Jeremy Fowler
This is exactly what fans want to hear about their new starter. Hurts showed promise in 2020, throwing for 1,061 yards, 6 TDs and 4 INTs across 148 passing attempts. He also added an impressive 354 yards and 3 TDs on the ground.
Hurts went just 1-3 as a starter last season, but Philly's roster lacked talent. They invested in their young QB by selecting a top wideout (DeVonta Smith) and offensive lineman (Landon Dickerson) with their top two picks in the draft.
The NFC East is wide open once again in 2021. And even a solid year from Hurts would put the Eagles square in contention.
