The Miami Dolphins enter the 2021 season with goals of a playoff appearance after missing out last year despite a 10-6 record. Miami will look to get off to a hot start with a Week 1 win over the New England Patriots, but their starting lineup just took a hit.

Left tackle Austin Jackson was placed on the COVID list on Monday and will be forced to miss Sunday's contest.

Because Jackson tested positive and is unvaccinated, he will have to isolate for a minimum of 10 days. That knocks him out of the Patriots game officially and it could put his Week 2 status in jeopardy.

This is a blow to the Dolphins' front line ahead of a matchup against a Patriots defense primed to rebound in 2021. Jackson immediately stepped in as a starter for Miami after being the team's first-round pick last year. It's likely that Greg Little will now step up in his place.

Tight end Adam Shaheen was also placed on the COVID list and is out for the minimum 10 days as well.

The Dolphins own +118 odds to make the playoffs this season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
