On Wednesday, the NFL officially released the 2021 schedule. Surely, fans are excited about the prospects of a new slate in 2021, however, some teams face more difficult stretches than others. Every NFL fan and insider uses this time to break down teams with the most difficult and easiest pathways towards a hopeful playoff appearance.

The Miami Dolphins, coming off a 10-win campaign in 2020 that still missed the playoffs, were hopeful for an easier slate. But, Miami could be screwed by the 2021 NFL Schedule, especially with a 13-week brutal stretch to kick things off.

Dolphins Schedule 2021

Not only does Miami kick off the 2021 campaign with 13 consecutive weeks of games, but this stretch includes an overseas trip to London. On Oct. 17, Miami travels to London to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The following Sunday (Oct. 24), Miami will be back home at Hard Rock Stadium to take on the Atlanta Falcons. We already know how difficult short weeks (i.e. playing after a Monday Night Football game) are for NFL teams, but add in a five-hour time zone change and even the full week will feel brutally short.

The Dolphins are actually sort of at fault here. In recent years, the NFL allows teams to choose if they'll take a bye week after traveling to London. According to reports, the Dolphins opted out of this post-London bye week. The result? Miami will play seven more consecutive weeks before their Week 14 bye in December.

This brutal 13-week stretch will play a big impact in Miami's playoff hopes for 2021. Fortunately, the Dolphins only face five 2020 playoff teams during that time including two games against the Buffalo Bills, and matchups with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens.

As it stands, FanDuel Sportsbook is giving the Dolphins +1400 odds to win the AFC.
