Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed reliever Victor Gonzalez has been on the 10-day injured list since July 6 due to a foot injury. Fortunately, it's looking like his recovery is going pretty well judging by the good news Los Angeles received on Friday.

The Dodgers assigned Gonzalez to Low-A Rancho Cucamonga as he'll begin his rehab assignment with a matchup against the Inland Empires 66ers on Friday. Assuming everything goes well, Gonzalez's rehab assignment isn't expected to last too long, according to MLB.com's Juan Toribio.

Victor Gonzalez Injury Update

Before having his season postponed due to injury, Gonzalez was looking pretty impressive in his sophomore campaign. He's 3-1 through 36 appearances (one start) while owning a 2.57 ERA and a 1.357 WHIP.

While the World Series favorite Dodgers would love to have that type of pitching back in their bullpen, Gonzalez's stats this season are a bit disappointing compared to his pitching in 2020. Considering how he went 3-0 with a 1.33 ERA and 0.738 WHIP through 20.1 innings in his rookie season, that's the version of Gonzalez that Los Angeles is hoping to get back. The club already leads the MLB with a 3.14 team ERA, so any opportunity to improve that statistic will be welcomed.
