DK Metcalf Fantasy Outlook Facing Tough Matchup Against Stephon Gilmore & Patriots in Week 2

After punishing the Atlanta Falcons secondary with over 320 total passing yards and four passing touchdowns in Week 1, the Seattle Seahawks now set their sights on their home opener against the New England Patriots, who have a notably tougher defense.
D.K. Metcalf Week 2 Fantasy Value
Outside receiver D.K. Metcalf, in particular, could see a shadow from Stephon Gilmore, who is one of the best coverage cornerbacks in the game today. Metcalf led the Seahawks in receiving yards (95), but not catches (four), in their opening game. That honor fell to Tyler Lockett, who grabbed eight for 92 yards.

DK Metcalf vs. Stephon Gilmore ?
It's unclear whether Metcalf or Lockett will receive the brunt of Gilmore's attention, but either way this Patriots' secondary is eons better than what the Falcons trotted out there last weekend. Last week, they held Miami Dolphins star DeVante Parker to 47 receiving yards on four grabs. Number two Preston Williams was even worse, recording two for 41 yards.
It's also important to note that as of now, Seattle is mostly a two-wide receiver offense. David Moore was the only other wideout to catch multiple passes in Week 1, with three receptions. Rookie Freddie Swain added one catch, but the rest of the offensive productivity was mostly centered around the Seahawks running backs and tight ends.

This is not a great matchup for Metcalf, but the second-year pro is still always a red zone threat because of his size and physicality. He caught his for a touchdown against the Falcons, and he has three inches and 25-plus pounds on Gilmore.
This one will probably come down to what other options you have available on your roster. An argument can be made for both sitting and starting D.K. Metcalf in Week 2.
