Diamondbacks Get Bad News With Luke Weaver Injury Update
By Larry Rupp

After starting pitcher Luke Weaver left his most recent outing with shoulder discomfort, he seemed optimistic that it was no big deal. He thought he could avoid a trip to the injured list, but it turns out that is not the case. Weaver was placed on the 10-day IL today and will be out until at least May 28.
The 27-year-old is in the midst of an up-and-down season with the Arizona Diamondbacks in which he has posted three starts of giving up 0 earned runs, but also three starts in which he has given up 4 or more. Overall, Weaver has a 2-3 record on the year to go along with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.
Corbin Martin will make his Dback debut and pitch in one of these games against the Dodgers. Luke Weaver will not make his nest start and is headed for the 10-day IL. Taylor Widener is pitching in Reno today and if all goes well could make his next start for the Diamondbacks.

The timing has not worked out well for the Diamondbacks as Weaver now joins two other Arizona pitchers on the injured list (Zac Gallen and Taylor Widener). The team called up prospect Corbin Martin in a corresponding move and he is expected to earn a start in the next few days.
The Diamondbacks currently own a 18-24 record on the year and are fighting to stay alive in a tough NL West division. They have a shot to make some noise if they can just stay healthy. Getting Weaver back quickly would be a good start as he will take his spot in the rotation upon his expected return at the end of the month.
