The New Orleans Saints were without top wide receiver Michael Thomas in Week 4 as he nurses a toe injury. Given Thomas' various health issues in recent years, fans are concerned about how long this new problem could keep him out.

On Wednesday, Dennis Allen provided an update regarding Thomas' status ahead of Week 5.

Allen confirmed that it's a toe injury bothering his star receiver. The head coach provided no return specifics, though, just saying Thomas will "continue to rehab" in the meantime.

The lack of timeframe being discussed for Thomas is definitely notable. He didn't practice at all on Wednesday, which already puts him behind for a potential Week 5 return.

Thomas' absence is especially disappointing given the way he started the year. He recorded 122 yards and 3 touchdowns in just the first two games, proving he's still one of the league's top playmakers despite missing the entire 2021 campaign and most of 2020 as well.

Hopefully Thomas and injured quarterback Jameis Winston can make some progress in Week 5, even if they're ultimately not able to suit up against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. The Saints are still strong 5.5-point favorities in that matchup, according to NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook, despite their health issues.
