DeMarcus Cousins ACL Injury Doesn't Alter Lakers Odds to Win 2020 NBA Finals

DeMarcus "Boogie" Cousins and Los Angeles Lakers' fans alike received disheartening news this Thursday, as the four-time NBA All-Star center has reportedly suffered a torn ACL in his left knee.
While Cousins was once arguably an NBA superstar, this string of recent injuries hasn't left him as the same kind of threat he once was, and the deadlock in the Lakers' +440 odds to win the 2020 NBA Finals, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, following this latest issue is likely a reflection of that.

It's certainly a tough break for Cousins, who joined the Golden State Warriors in 2018 and spent the majority of last season rehabbing and battling back from a ruptured Achilles tendon injury sustained in the 2017-18 season with the New Orleans Pelicans.
While, of course, even a healthy Cousins would have likely taken a massive backseat to the Lakers' newly-acquired star power Anthony Davis and the incumbent LeBron James, he could have added fantastic depth to a roster many consider heavily lacking beyond it's star duo.

The Lakers (+480) trail only their crosstown rivals in the Los Angeles Clippers (+330) for the best odds to win it all next season. The Purple & Gold have garnered the most NBA title bets by total handle of any NBA team through FanDuel Sportsbook.
