Minnesota Vikings pass-rusher Danielle Hunter was the subject of trade rumors once again this offseason given his contract. Instead, Hunter and the team agreed to a restructure to free up money, though it leaves his long-term future up in the air.
Danielle Hunter Trade Rumors
Now Hunter's situation in Minnesota has taken a surprising turn.
Danielle Hunter Contract Extension
New Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah told reporters on that "we feel great" where things stand with Hunter, and there's interest by Minnesota to even pursue an extension. He added the team doesn't want to "just move on" from a great player like Hunter.
That is certainly a change in the organization's stance after it was revealed that the Vikings were shopping Hunter. They were open to sending the two-time Pro Bowler packing, but now it seems Minnesota doesn't want to lose him after all.
This change of heart is definitely good news for Vikings fans. Hunter is now set to star alongside recent signing Za'Darius Smith, creating a formidable pass-rushing duo that should wreak havoc on opposing QBs.
Keeping those two together beyond 2022 would give Minnesota serious firepower on defense for years to come. Hunter, who's currently 27 years old, is under contract until 2023.
