In a Wild Card Weekend matchup, the Minnesota Vikings travel to take on the New Orleans Saints. Minnesota seems to be getting healthy at the right time, and that includes running back Dalvin Cook, who is set to return to action after logging full practice reps this week.
Cook has been such a big part of the Vikings offense this season, totaling 1,654 yards and 13 touchdowns in the 14 games he appeared in. Recently, he has sat out second halves of games due to a shoulder injury, but all reports say he is feeling much better after a couple weeks of rest.
Before the injury he had averaged 19.5 carries and 4.9 targets, which had translated to 23.3 PPR fantasy points per game through 11 contests.
A big key to victory for the Vikings will be Cook finding ways to be effective. The Saints have allowed 121.4 yards per game to running backs over the past five games. This opens the door for the Cook and the Vikings to exploit this mismatch.
We know the Saints offense will be ready to play, after averaging 40.5 points over the past four weeks, and the Vikings are going to need their offense firing on all cylinders to keep up.
Accounting for these positive injury updates translating to a full workload, Cook is the RB2 in our Wild Card Weekend fantasy football rankings.
