Cowboys Already Making the Right Moves to Fix Their Defense

Despite injury troubles, the Dallas Cowboys somehow clawed their way to a 6-10 record in 2020, and there's optimism heading into the 2021 season. The recovery of Dak Prescott is central to a comeback year, but Dallas also must fix its defense if they want to compete.
The Cowboys let defensive coordinator Mike Nolan go after just one season, and team is already pursuing a replacement who could turn them around.
Former #Falcons coach Dan Quinn spent Saturday interviewing for the vacant #Cowboys defensive coordinator job, source says. He joins #Falcons secondary coach Joe Whitt and #Panthers defensive passing game coordinator Jason Simmons as the three known candidates.

Returning to being a defensive coordinator could be what helps revive Dan Quinn's reputation after burning out with the Atlanta Falcons.
Atlanta's defense ranked in the top 10 just once (2017) for fewest points or yards allowed during Quinn's tenure. But prior to that, as a defensive coordiantor with the Seattle Seahawks for two seasons, Quinn had the league's top-ranked defense in both points and yards allowed in back-to-back seasons.
Relieved of the duties of a head coach, Quinn can get back to where his strengths lie. His resume with the Seahawks should make him a serious candidate for the Cowboys, who fell to No. 28 and 23 in points and yards allowed, respectively, in 2020.
If the Cowboys can bring Quinn into the fold to speahead a revamped defense, the 2021 season should have an even brighter outlook.
