The Chicago Cubs have very few complaints about how the 2021 MLB season is shaping up so far. At 39-31, the Cubs sit atop the NL Central — one game ahead of the second-place Milwaukee Brewers. If Chicago wants the best shot a keep its divisional lead, the team is going to need everyone to be as healthy as possible. That means getting right-handed starting pitcher Adbert Alzolay back into the rotation.

Alzolay was placed on the 10-day injured list back on June 8 after being diagnosed with a blister on his right middle finger. Fortunately, the Cubs got a great update on the 24-year-old's injury status on Saturday. Alzolay will return to Chicago's lineup on Monday to start against the Cleveland Indians.

Adbert Alzolay Injury Update

Considering how the Cubs have lost four of their last five games heading into Saturday's tilt against the Miami Marlins, Alzolay's return couldn't be happening at a better time. He's currently sporting a 4-5 record and 4.06 ERA through 11 starts in his third MLB season. That's not even to mention how he's struck out 62 batters in 57.2 innings pitched and has lowered his walks per 9 IP from 5.5 in 2020 to 2.5 in 2021.

Getting Alzolay back on the mound is exactly what Chicago needs to improve its odds of winning the division. The Cubs currently have the 2nd-best odds to win the NL Central at +250, according to FanDuel Sportsbooks, which puts them right behind the Brewers at +100. Fortunately, Chicago does have a three-game series coming up against Milwaukee from June 28-30, which is a great opportunity to try and change the oddsmaker's mind.

FanDuel Sportsbook has also listed the Cubs' odds of winning the World Series at +4500, which ranks them 16th among all 30 MLB teams.
