Dallas Cowboys - SIC score 84.2
The Dallas Cowboys ruled out fill-in right tackle Jason Peters and Tyron Smith is expected to start in his place, resulting in the five-man starting offensive line that Dallas likely envisioned for this season and beyond.
From left to right: Tyler Smith, Connor McGovern, Tyler Biadasz, All-Pro Zack Martin and mainstay Tyron Smith.
The Smiths will face Defensive Player of the Year favorite Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers' deep and talented defensive line after rookie Tyler posted the No. 62 pass-rush win rate score out of 64 qualifying tackles this season.
The Cowboys' success this season has hinged on their effectiveness on the ground and been hurt by Dak Prescott's affinity for turnovers, posting a 10-2 record when they rush 30-plus times and a 6-2 record when Prescott avoids multiple interceptions.
Dallas starting safety Jayron Kearse is questionable after he suffered his second MCL sprain last weekend and he will be limited even if he suits up.
The Cowboys' pass defense has an SIC score of 75.75 and battles a red-hot 49ers air attack that holds a nearly 12-point SIC score advantage.
San Francisco 49ers - SIC score 90.8
This year the 49ers have a different starting quarterback, Brock Purdy, after Jimmy Garoppolo broke his foot. San Francisco decided not to put Garoppolo on IR, but he hasn't practiced since suffering the injury.
Furthermore, Garoppolo has thrown 4 touchdowns in his playoff career, while Purdy had 4 total touchdowns in his first playoff game. The 49ers will survive without Garoppolo, especially with their offense averaging 34.6 points per game under Purdy.
San Francisco's offense is healthy for the most part, with No. 3 wide receiver Jauan Jennings suffering an ankle injury in the Wild Card Round against the Seattle Seahawks. The injury isn't considered significant, however, and he was the only starter to go down on Saturday.
The 49ers have yet to face a defense like the Cowboys since Purdy became the starter. Dallas' defense was eighth in passing yards allowed (200.9), fifth in scoring (20.1), third in sacks (54) and first in the NFL with 33 takeaways.
San Francisco's defense has a star at every level with Nick Bosa (D-line), Fred Warner (linebacker), Charvarius Ward (cornerback) and Talanoa Hufanga (safety). These stars have helped the 49ers become the No. 1 scoring defense in the NFL and the No. 2 overall ranked defense by PFF.
To make matters worse for Dallas, San Francisco's defense has a SIC score of 90.4, which means their defense is relatively healthy.
Cowboys vs. 49ers Divisional Round Odds
The 49ers are favored by 3.5 points at home and the over/under is 46.5 points, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
