The Dallas Cowboys relied on their defense in Week 8 as quarterback Dak Prescott was sidelined with an injury. The defense showed up in a big way and held the Minnesota Vikings to just 16 points as backup Cooper Rush led the offense to its sixth win of the NFL season.

Now a Cowboys rookie has been recognized for his efforts against the Vikings.

NFC Player of the Week

Rookie do-it-all linebacker Micah Parsons was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his brilliant performance in Week 8.

The 2021 No. 12 overall draft pick turned out a season-high 11 tackles, including four tackles for loss and one quarterback hit. He played 97% of Dallas' defensive snaps.

Parsons' efforts helped Dallas enjoy it's best defensive performance of the year, holding the Vikings to just 16 points and 278 yards of total offense.

The Cowboys enter Week 9 with a matchup at home against the Denver Broncos. Dallas is favored by 9.5 points on FanDuel Sportsbook.
