Cowboys Announce Big Overhaul to Coaching Staff

The Dallas Cowboys, once again, got bounced early in the NFL playoffs. This continues a frustrating trend for the franchise after not getting past the Divisional Round in their last 12 postseason appearances. Jerry Jones swiftly responded to the disappointing finish on Wednesday night with a major overhaul to the coaching staff.
Head coach Mike McCarthy released a statement regarding the changes, which see five assistant coaches lose their jobs.

Cowboys Coaching Changes
"We thank these men for their hard work, dedication and contributions to the Cowboys. Each of them represented our team and organization at a high, professional level with class and commitment to making our team better. These were difficult decisions to make because of the great respect I have for each of them as a coach and person of character, combined with the experiences we've all gone through together. This is the hardest part of the business and we wish them nothing but the best," said McCarthy.
The five assistants to lose their jobs include Assistant Head Coach Rob Davis, Senior Defensive Assistant George Edwards, Assistant Defensive Line Coach Leon Lett, Running Backs Coach Skip Peete and Offensive Line Coach Joe Philbin. Kyle Valero, who worked as a quality control of analytics, also lost his job.
On the heels of back-to-back 12-win seasons, it appears McCarthy's job is safe for now. Another early playoff exit in 2023 may force Jones' hand in that situation as well, however.
