Cooper Kupp Fantasy Outlook Improves With Heavy Target Share in Week 5 Rams vs Seahawks Game

Entering the season, there was plenty of reason to be skeptical about drafting Cooper Kupp in fantasy football. The Los Angeles Rams' offense had a lot of mouths to feed in Kupp, Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks and Todd Gurley, and the third-year wideout was coming off a torn ACL suffered in Week 10 of last year.

However, through five games, Kupp proven to be the most consistent weapon on the Rams – mostly due to the amount of targets he gets from QB Jared Goff.

In Week 5, Kupp turned 17 targets into nine receptions for 117 yards and a TD. That puts his season stats at 41 receptions for 505 receiving yards and four TDs on a whopping 63 targets through five games. He already has more receptions and targets than he did in eight games played last season.

In the offseason there were a flurry of reports that suggested Kupp was actually faster now than he was prior to the ACL injury. But the results have been clear – Kupp looks noticeably more athletic and is producing at a higher level than ever.

Entering last night, Kupp slotted in as the No. 2 WR in PPR fantasy points per game among all receivers who played at least three games, and that was prior to the 100-plus yards and a touchdown he put up on Thursday night.

While Kupp may not keep producing at this blistering pace, it's safe to continue starting him as a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2 for the rest of the 2019 season.
