With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) ruled out for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots, the Indianapolis Colts have elevated a pair of running backs to the active roster to help replace him, including a former Pro Bowler.

The Colts brought up RBs Phillip Lindsay and Jordan Wilkins from the practice squad on Saturday ahead of Sunday's road tilt against the Patriots in Foxborough.
Lindsay, 28, has already played in a pair of games for Indianapolis this season, suiting up in Weeks 5 and 6 when Taylor was out previously. The 2018 Pro Bowler was busy in both contests but didn't make a huge impact, recording 66 total yards on 20 touches and scoring a two-point conversion.
Wilkins, on the other hand, has not played yet this year and was just signed to the practice squad earlier this week following the Nyheim Hines trade. He barely played in 2021, either, so he'll likely serve as a depth option in case something happens to Lindsay.
The Colts are hopeful that Lindsay can step up and help them beat the Patriots in this crucial Week 9 showdown. Indy is currently listed as a 4.5-point road underdog on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
