Christian McCaffrey has been on a historic run with the Carolina Panthers this season, and he has been rewarded as such, becoming the youngest running back ever to join the "99 Club," getting a 99 overall rating in Madden.

McCaffrey is now one of just five players that have received a 99 rating this season, joining Khalil Mack, Aaron Donald, Patrick Mahomes and DeAndre Hopkins. He's also only the fifth running back to have ever been rated 99 overall, joining Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk, LaDainian Tomlinson, Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson.

After we saw a newly-jacked McCaffrey this offseason, we knew big things were ahead for the Carolina RB. However, nobody could have guessed he would be on pace to make history.

Through 10 games, McCaffrey has 1,059 rushing yards and 517 receiving yards, with 14 total touchdowns. This puts him on a 16-game pace to total 2,521 yards from scrimmage this season, which would break the record set by Johnson (2,509) back in 2009.

While he has a way to go to reach LaDainian Tomlinson's total touchdown record in a season (31), he has still been responsible for 56.0 percent of the Panthers' offensive touchdowns this season, which is an incredible rate.

This is arguably the best season by a skill-position player we have seen in quite some time, and it has the potential to be among the greatest running back seasons ever. Madden recognized this, giving McCaffrey the well-deserved 99 rating in the game.
