The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh off of an excellent showing in the 2022 NFL Draft, but their roster building isn't done yet. The plethora of undrafted free agents hitting the market gives teams a chance to fill out their squad with players hungry to prove they belong.
Now it turns out Kansas City has landed a potential steal by signing the best remaining UDFA on the market.
Justyn Ross Signed
Former Clemson standout Justyn Ross is joining the Chiefs after not hearing his name called during the 2022 draft due to injury concerns.
Ross looked like a future first-round pick while starring for the Tigers' national championship team in 2018. He followed that up with a successful 2019 campaign, but it was revealed Ross was born with a neck issue that could cause him to step away from football.
He then ended up having spinal surgery, which sidelined him for the entire 2020 season. Ross returned in 2021, but didn't quite look like himself, recording career lows in yards (514) and TDs (3) over 10 games. A stress fracture in his foot also cut his season short.
It's been an eventful journey for Ross to even get to this point. Though the injury concerns remain, he's undeniably talented, and likely hungry to prove why his new team made the right choice. If he can get back to 100%, the Chiefs may have just found Patrick Mahomes a new weapon with massive upside.
