NFL minicamps are one of the last opportunities for players to grab some attention ahead of July's training camps. When it comes to the Kansas City Chiefs, one specific pass-catcher was turning heads at their minicamp.

Former Duke Blue Devils tight end and 2021 fifth-round pick Noah Gray has been impressing at the team's minicamp. Considering how he wore No. 87 in college, surely the Chiefs wouldn't mind if this tight end showed glimpses of playing like another certain player with that number on their roster.

Noah Gray Chiefs

According to ESPN, Gray has impressed the Chiefs staff "with his smarts, pass-catching and route running." He also stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 240 pounds, meaning that he could add some much-needed size whether Kelce is or isn't on the field.

While Gray didn't have the hype that other tight ends had ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft, he still has some promising potential. He recorded 80 receptions for 677 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns in 22 games over the last two seasons with the Blue Devils. The best part of all is that Gray now has Travis Kelce as a mentor.

The five-time All-Pro tight end is arguably the best at his position in today's NFL, especially when you realize that Julio Jones (6,695) and DeAndre Hopkins (6,476) are the only pass-catchers who have more than Kelce's 6,144 receiving yards over the last five seasons.

The entire situation bodes well for Gray. Aside from Kelce being a possible mentor, being a fifth-round pick means he doesn't have high expectations on his shoulders. There will be room for error and he's in a great position where he can afford to make the occasional mistake. Without much competition for the No. 2 TE spot, look for Gray to possibly play an important role for the Chiefs next season.
