As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for their AFC Conference Championship rematch against the Cincinnati Bengals, their biggest concern is making sure star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is able to play.

Thankfully, it looks like he's on track to do so based on the latest injury report from Chiefs practice on Thursday.

Patrick Mahomes Injury Update

Mahomes briefly left Kansas City's Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week with a high-ankle sprain, but was able to return and finish out the game.

While Mahomes promised to play on Sunday, this week's practices have been a chance for him to prove that he's truly game-ready and able to suit up this weekend.

Fortunately for the Chiefs, the former MVP hasn't appeared limited by the injury. He was a full participant at Wednesday's practice and felt good after Thursday morning's walkthrough, which prompted head coach Andy Reid to say his quarterback was "on track" to play this week.

That's huge news for Kansas City, who presumably won't have to rely on backup QB Chad Henne again. The Chiefs will need Mahomes if they finally want to beat Joe Burrow, who's 3-0 against them in his career.

Mahomes' improved status has given a boost to Kansas City's odds as well. The Chiefs are currently favored by 1 point on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
