The 2022 NFL Draft featured a total of 262 prospects being selected by teams across the league and a number of undrafted free agents signed deals afterwards as well. The entire process acted a jolt for NFL fans as anticipation for the season is starting to rise ahead of the schedule release on May 12.

Keep in mind fans already know the opponents their favorite team will play in 2022, just not specific dates or order. The Kansas City Chiefs will aim to make their fifth consecutive AFC Championship game in 2022, but the competition they need to beat in order to get there is only getting meaner.

Chiefs Schedule 2022

Sports Illustrated's Zach Koons put together a strength of schedule metric based on the known opponents and their 2021 regular-season records. The Chiefs did not fare too well considering they rank with the second-hardest schedule in the AFC and tied for the fifth-hardest schedule overall.

Kansas City is put in a tough spot year after year given the talent that resides in the AFC West. Both the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders finished above the .500 mark in 2021. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos went all-in during the offseason by acquiring quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Chiefs are also set to take on the AFC South and NFC West divisions. Only three of those eight teams finished with losing record in 2021 and the Los Angeles Rams even went on to win the Super Bowl. Matchups with the Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers round out a power-packed schedule.

It's nothing head coach Andy Reid's team can't handle, though. Oddsmakers know what this team is capable of accomplishing and give the Chiefs +950 odds to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Those chances rank third in the NFL behind only the Buccaneers and Bills.
