The Kansas City Chiefs have gotten off to a bumpy start during the 2021 season. After entering the year as one of the Super Bowl favorites, the Chiefs have stumbled out of the gate to a 5-4 record through Week 9. From a betting angle, things look even worse, as the Chiefs are just 2-7 against the spread (ATS).

However, their ATS struggles go back further than the start of this season. Even as one of the best teams in the league, and a Super Bowl appearance in 2020, Kansas City is just 4-16 ATS in its last 20 games.

When a team has been as dominant as their Chiefs were for that long of a stretch, sportsbooks tend to inflate lines on them, and despite winning a bunch of games, covering the spread becomes that much more difficult.

Entering this season with similar expectations, but not winning as many games as they used to this year, the Chiefs ATS record has continued to see poor results.

While the market is definitely seeing a correction in terms of the weekly lines the Chiefs are now dealt by the sportsbooks, if the struggles of Patrick Mahomes and this team's defense continue, so will their ATS record.

Kansas City is currently a 2.5-point road favorite over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 10, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
