The Los Angeles Chargers ended last season once again in a disappointing fashion. Brandon Staley is now firmly on the hot seat to make a serious push in the AFC next season, and there have already been some major changes to his staff so far this offseason.

The Chargers are already looking for both a new offensive and defensive coordinator for next season, but on Thursday, they announced that they would be parting ways with head trainer Damon Mitchell as well.

Mitchell has been with Los Angeles for 24 years and has held the head trainer position for the last six years, establishing himself as a key part of the organization.

Obviously Mitchell had a crucial role and it won't be easy to replace someone with that much tenure within the organization, but such is an offseason coming off a year marred by disappointments. Changes had to be made, and LA is making them.

Whether or not they help or stick depends on how this season goes. If Staley and quarterback Justin Herbert can't show some notable improvement in 2023, that will be all she wrote for Staley.

With some potential cap casualties this offseason and free agency and the draft still to go, there will be plenty of chances for the Chargers to shake up or improve the roster. For now, the franchise wants the right coaches and staff to prepare for that.
