Dallas Cowboys fans are understandably optimistic about the 2020 season. Mike McCarthy is taking over for Jason Garrett, Dak Prescott seems to have made a leap, and his skill-position group is better than ever.
But even the most optimistic of Cowboys fans will be surprised with CBS Sports' prediction for Dallas' 2020 season.
CBS Sports' Patrik Walker made three bold predictions about the Cowboys upcoming campaign: he has Dallas winning Super Bowl LV, Prescott earning MVP honors and McCarthy winning Coach of the Year.
It may not be quite as crazy as it sounds, though. Offensively, Dallas tallied more yards (6,904) than any other team in the league last year, and the Cowboys' 6.5 yards per play was also a league-high. This team was significantly better than their 8-8 record suggests, so projecting a huge jump isn't unreasonable. This is a bit bold, as the name would suggest.
Hopefully the switch to McCarthy can help Dallas translate that efficiency into wins this season. If that happens, Walker's predictions may not be nearly as outlandish as they seem.
