The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are fighting for the No. 1 seed in the NFC conference and cannot afford to suffer any major injuries on offense. Fortunately, running back Leonard Fournette returned to practice on Friday and is on track to play in Week 15 despite suffering a lingering ankle injury.
Leonard Fournette Injury Update
Fournette was absent from practice on Wednesday and Thursday as he continued to work his way back onto the field. The fact that he wasn't even limited in Friday's action points to the fifth-year pro being able to suit up for a matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night Football.
The Buccaneers are going to need all the help they can get from their talented backfield as the Saints are allowing the sixth-fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL (95.0). Overall, Fournette has paced an offense that currently ranks first in the league with an average of 410.2 total yards per game.
The former LSU standout has shown an underrated versatility through the first 13 games of the season. Fournette has rushed for 778 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns on 171 carries (4.5 average). He has also added in 421 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns through the air on 62 receptions.
The Buccaneers have lost three straight games to their divisional rival and will aim to end the streak on national TV in Week 15. Tampa Bay is currently slated as a heavy 11.5-point home favorite against New Orleans, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
