Buccaneers Fans Are Going to Love Peter King's Power Rankings

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are generally considered to have won the offseason. Replacing Jameis Winston with Tom Brady and adding top-tier talent like Tristan Wirfs and Antoine Winfield Jr. will certainly help curry favor from NFL analysts.

But even the most optimistic of Buccaneers fans will be pleasantly surprised to see where the team landed in Peter King's latest power rankings.

Buccaneers NFL Power Rankings

King has Tampa Bay as the fifth-highest ranked team in the league. That's the third-highest ranking in the NFC, trailing only the New Orleans Saints (No. 3) and San Francisco 49ers (No. 4).

While King's ranking suggests there could be a serious battle atop the NFC South, it does put some distance between the Bucs and the rest of the division, as neither the Atlanta Falcons nor Carolina Panthers crack the top 24.

His opinion is generally backed up by the oddsmakers, as well. FanDuel Sportsbook gives the Buccaneers the fifth-best odds at winning the Super Bowl (+1500), and the third-best in the NFC. It's also projecting a close battle for supremacy in the NFC South, with the Saints at -110 and Bucs at +160.

There's a lot of optimism in Tampa Bay right now, and for good reason. If King's power rankings are any indication, the Tom Brady era could get off to a fantastic start in the 2020 season.
