The Cleveland Browns made major steps in the 2020 season, and they have reason to believe they'll be contenders for the next few years with the right moves. With the end of the year performance that Baker Mayfield just had, he's played himself into a long-term deal if the Browns want to lock him up as their franchise QB.

And that's exactly what ESPN is predicting for Mayfield and Cleveland this offseason.

Baker Mayfield Contract

ESPN believes that, given Mayfield's stellar end to the 2020 campaign, the Browns will jump at the chance to make him one of the highest-paid QBs in the league. Cleveland's expected interest in a big-money deal for Mayfield isn't without its reasons.

The QB threw 16 TDs and just 2 INTs from Week 7 to the end of the regular season, representing major growth after a turnover-filled beginning to the year. Mayfield also helped lead the Browns to their first playoff win in 26 years with 3 TDs and 263 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If the 25-year-old QB can take his momentum from last season and keep up his play for years to come, then an extension makes sense for the Browns, who've longed for a franchise quarterback that can solidify their contender status.
