Browns Fire Another Coach in 2023 Offseason
Following a disappointing 2022 campaign, there was bound to be some changes on the Cleveland Browns' coaching staff. Kevin Stefanski wasted no time switching things up, letting defensive coordinator Joe Woods go and replacing him with Jim Schwartz.
It turns out Stefanski isn't done tinerking with his staff.
The Browns have decided to part ways with special teams coordinator Mike Priefer, the team announced Tueaday. In a statement, Stefanski said he appreciates "everything" Priefer did in Cleveland over the past three seasons, but he needed to "move in another direction" at this time.
Priefer is a coaching veteran with nearly 30 years of experience. He began his career as an assistant at his alma mater, Navy, before making stops at Youngstown State, VMI and Northen Illinois.
Priefer then graduated to the NFL ranks with a focus on special teams. He served an assistant for four years before becoming ST coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings. The former college quarterback was then hired by Stefanski in 2019 for this role.
It's clear Stefanski isn't happy with how the team performed last year, and he's not hesitating to shake things up. Heading into a pivotal season, hopefully his changes lead to big results.
