The Denver Broncos do not have a first-round pick in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft, which puts a bit more emphasis on nailing their second-round pick (No. 64 overall). Odds released on FanDuel Sportsbook point to the front office taking a linebacker above any other position available.
Denver Broncos NFL Draft
Linebacker is the favorite at +250 and is followed closely behind by running back at +340. The rest of the list includes defensive lineman (+600), offensive lineman (+600), cornerback (+850), tight end (+850), safety (+850), wide receiver (+1100), quarterback (+10000) and kicker/punter (+10000).
This shouldn't come as a major shock considering the fact that a number of Denver LBs entered free agency his offseason. Josey Jewell is set to return from a torn pectoral injury, but the depth behind him is lacking when it comes to star power and experience.
Pass rush will not be a problem thanks to the addition of Randy Gregory. However, Alex Singleton is slated to start for the Broncos despite getting regularly burnt in coverage with the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Drafting someone capable of at least splitting reps would be a smart idea.
Picking near the end of the second round does not mean that there will not still be talented players available for the taking. For example, Chad Muma out of Wisconsin has been mocked to the team in the past after racking up 142 tackles (8.0 for loss), 3 interceptions and 1.5 sacks in his senior year.
General manager Geroge Paton has an opportunity to make an immediate impact in the front office when the Broncos go on the clock on Friday, April 29.
