The Denver Broncos and their fans were given a scare during Sunday's 27-13 victory over the New York Giants. Sophomore wide receiver Jerry Jeudy exited on a cart during the third quarter of the contest after suffering an ankle injury. While on-lookers were hoping for a speedy recovery, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio told the media on Monday that Jeudy's injury has been diagnosed as a high ankle sprain and that he'll miss "some time" before being ready to return. This injury update isn't something that the Broncos wanted to hear, especially when the former Alabama Crimson Tide product was supposed to be one of Denver's top pass-catchers going forward.

Jerry Jeudy Injury Update

Sources close to ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter said that Jeudy will likely miss four to six weeks. That's obviously far from ideal, but the Broncos would surely rather see him come back by Week 5 at the earliest rather than miss the entire season.

Jeudy looked solid before exiting the game, catching six of his seven targets for 72 yards. His only blemish was a fumble, but that occurred on the same play that saw him get injured, so it'll likely be forgotten. Hopefully, Jeudy will be able to heal as quickly as possible so that he can continue the performance that saw him record 856 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns last year.

The Broncos will now turn to wideouts K.J. Hamler (3 receptions, 41 receiving yards), Tim Patrick (4 receptions, 39 yards and 1 touchdown) and Courtland Sutton (1 reception, 14 yards) to step up in Jeudy's absence. Out of the trio, Sutton's Week 1 performance was the most disappointing, especially after he was supposed to be Denver's No. 1 WR last year before his season-ending ACL tear.

The Broncos will visit the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 for their first game without Jeudy. Denver enters as the 6-point betting favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, so it'll be intriguing to see if it can hit the mark without its talented sophomore wideout.
