Well, that didn't take long.
After just one game this season, Brian Robinson Jr. has already taken over the Washington Commanders' backfield, establishing himself as the team's top running back.
Washington Commanders News
Robinson is expected to get the start for Washington during Week 6's Thursday Night Football matchup against the Chicago Bears. This comes on the heels of him leading the team in carries (9) during his season debut in Week 5.
It's impressive to see Robinson in a starting role so quickly given that he missed the first four games of the season after getting shot in the leg twice during an armed robbery before the season started. He recovered quickly, however, and is apparently healthy enough to carry a heavy workload as a starter.
The Robinson news pushes Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissick to complementary roles. Gibson had been leading the backfield in Robinson's absence, averaging 13.3 carries per game through Week 4. He received only 3 carries in Week 5, however, signaling a clear change in usage.
Washington will try to snap its four-game losing streak by taking down Chicago on the road in Week 6. The Commanders are currently 1-point favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds for this primetime showdown.
