Freddy Peralta felt that he was healthy enough to start for the Milwaukee Brewers against the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The veteran starter only lasted two innings before being pulled due to right shoulder fatigue.

After the Brewers' 4-2 victory, Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell told reporters that Peralta's issue was the same one that sidelined him earlier this week. As a result, the 26-year-old hurler is heading back to the injured list.

Freddy Peralta Injury Update

With Peralta heading to the IL, Brewers fans can expect to see him back in the fold towards late September at the earliest. This is his second significant IL stint of the season after being sidelined for over two months due to the same injured shoulder.

Injuries have made it tough for Peralta to find his footing this season. It's unfortunate for the Brewers because he's looked solid when he's been healthy enough to pitch. In 15 starts this season, the righty has gone 4-3 with a 3.45 ERA, 1.024 WHIP and 76 strikeouts over 70.1 innings.

Losing Peralta certainly throws a wrench into the Brewers' playoff hunt. They're currently 2.5 games back of the National League's final Wild Card spot with 24 games remaining. Now, they must turn to the bullpen or even the minors for help until Peralta is good to go.

Brewers World Series Odds

Even if the Brewers squeak into the playoffs without Peralta's help, winning the World Series is more than an uphill battle. FanDuel Sportsbook has Milwaukee available at +10000 odds to win the 2022 World Series, which is tied for the 14th-best odds across the Majors.
