One of the major developments from the NFL's Divisional Round was an apparent head injury to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Backup Chad Henne helped the Chiefs clinch their AFC Championship berth, but Mahomes' status will have a major impact on how Sunday's game shakes out.
With Mahomes in concussion protocol, longtime quarterback Brett Favre offered some unprompted advice to the Kansas City QB.
After a 20-year NFL career, Favre certainly dealt with his fair share of concussions, and his warning is something for the Chiefs quarterback to definitely consider.
However, Mahomes' injury is actually being classified as a neck/nerve ailment, so Favre's words of wisdom might not be totally applicable.
Given the stage, even if it was a concussion, someone who put his body on the line like Favre would certainly be suiting up for a possible Super Bowl appearance if he was in a similar position, so his conservative playing advice is kind of questionable.
There's no doubt that Mahomes wants to play, but his status will continue to be monitored throughout the week. Henne did an admirable job filling in for the star QB, although the 11-year veteran presents a much more favorable matchup for the Buffalo Bills.
