Each and every year, the MLB calendar turns to a new year and the buzz of the big-name, splash free agent acquisitions wears off. Instead, the new year is typically a time when all 30 MLB teams jockey lower-level players around and spend some serious time on the waiver wire.

At times, that results in teams cutting ties with some of these recent acquisitions. And sometimes those recent acquisitions are quickly demoted to the minor league squad. That's exactly what happened with the Atlanta Braves, who already demoted a recent veteran addition.

On Thursday, the Braves outrighted infielder Hoy Park to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Park has been on one of those tumultuous rides. He was first designated for assignment by the Pittsburgh Pirates before getting traded to the Boston Red Sox prospect Inmer Lobo. Boston promptly sent Park to Atlanta (through a DFA) for cash considerations. Atlanta DFA'd Park, but he cleared waivers, and is now with the Triple-A squad.

The veteran has seen some limited success at the MLB level and adds some experienced depth to Atlanta's infield. He slashed .216/.276/.373 in 60 plate appearances for the Pirates last year, and has 68 games of MLB experience under his belt.

For now, the Braves hold +1000 odds to win the 2023 World Series per MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
